Constitution:

Common goals outlined in the founding constitution of New Consensus in 1989:

  • Opposing apathy and ambivalence about the right to life in Northern Ireland:

  • Promoting the equal right of all citizens of Northern Ireland to democratic
    control of their political destiny:

  • Promoting the principles of mutual respect, civil liberty and freely-given
allegiance as the basis for democratic and non-sectarian society:

  • Promoting the principle that these three principles are so fundamental as to
transcend any ideological or any-political differences we may have.

  • New Dialogue takes no collective position on the border. New Dialogue is
opposed to the use of violence as a means of resolving the problems
associated with divisions in Northern Ireland, and to the threat of the use of
violence to coerce others into agreements to which they would not freely assent.

These are our fundamental principles and we invite support from all those who share them.
